Our proposal explores how drone technology can be used to create new, interactive experiences that enable users to learn about potentially dangerous and toxic sites around New York.

This is where ships come to die. Deep in the marshes of Arthur Kill, past the headstones of Rossville Family Cemetery lie the ghostly wreckages of past warships, ferries, steam vessels, and fireboats. As the tides recede, skeletons of ship hulls and the corpses of sunken vessels briefly emerge from the murky waters. It is here off the south shores of Staten Island that you will encounter the disintegrating phantoms of New York’s industrial shipping industry.

By creating a short film and interactive exhibition about Arthur Kill Ship Graveyard, we hope to generate more interest and awareness of the historical significance and subsequent environmental impacts of these sites on New York's environment and waterways.
